I am a second year Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am a member of the CLIP lab advised by Marine Carpuat. My research focus is on Natural Language Processing (NLP) while I am primarily interested in semantics, multilingual NLP and neural machine translation (NMT). I currently work on detection of cross-lingual semantic divergences while my ultimate goal is to incorporate this knowledge into NMT models and systems used in cross-lingual transfer.
Previously, I received my undergraduate degree from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, where I was advised by Alexandros Potamianos. My diploma thesis focus was on the creation of topic-based word embeddings that integrate contextual variations in word semantics. Both Greek and English versions of my thesis can be found here.
